In class I'd talked about mapping Marvel characters who had solo series against US events, but I came across the Cooper Hewitt API near the end of class and was immediately intrigued (museums are a weakness). From what I understand, here's a sample of the data I can get:
- Get the list of objects that have been in a room
- Get the color palette of an object in the collection
- Get the list of colors within a color palette
What I would like to do is show the 'average' color/set of colors of the objects in a room across the museum's floorplan. It's maybe not quantitative enough since I thought I would show it over time, but the API doesn't seem to have timestamps on when objects were in certain locations. I'm still iterating on the idea but I think I'm definitely going to use the Cooper Hewitt API. As for team formation, I'm working by myself (unless something changes in class tomorrow, in which case I'll update this).
Technology wise I'm thinking about using p5 to draw the floorplans and draw colored shapes over it. The way I picture this is drawing a shape to represent an object and giving it the color of the object, and then overlapping the shapes to get the average. It might end up being more like a bubble chart if I go this route. Again, I think I still have some iterating to do on the idea but it's a start
