This article from Wired talks about a new wireless router designed by some of the people behind Nest. This device is called Eero, and not only is it a wireless router, it helps users to setup and manage their wireless connections along with all wireless and Bluetooth controlled devices. It is also designed to be out in the open to reduce signal interference.
Routers are fundamental in how we connect to the internet today, and yet they’re some of the ugliest devices we have. In fact, the quote that struck me the most from the article “People have been conditioned to accept ugly”. But the designers didn’t just do a face lift on routers – they thought about how people handle wireless connectivity and found a way to make the process of using the device simple too. Visual and interactive cleanliness? Ease of use in setting up Internet? Yes please!
